Am I breaking the law? Does the European Accessibility Act apply to me?
If you're a small independent business, quite possibly not — and we won't pretend otherwise to sell you something. The European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) exempts microenterprises that provide services: enterprises employing fewer than 10 persons whose annual turnover or annual balance-sheet total does not exceed €2 million (Article 4(5)). Many pubs, cafés, guest houses, salons, gyms and independent shops fall inside that exemption — though the headcount and turnover test can work differently if you're part of a group, a franchise or a chain of linked companies. It's also narrower than it sounds: it covers services, so businesses that manufacture, import, distribute or retail certain covered products can still have obligations a small service business doesn't. If you're near the thresholds, part of a wider group, or dealing in covered products, ask a solicitor — not a scanning tool. We don't sell compliance, certificates or legal cover. We show you what your website is doing to your customers. That's worth knowing whether or not any law applies to you.
What is WCAG and why should I care?
WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) is the internationally recognised checklist for whether a website actually works for everyone — people using screen readers, people navigating by keyboard, people who need larger text or stronger contrast. It's not a law in itself; it's the practical standard the industry measures against. We check your site against the machine-testable parts of WCAG 2.2 (A/AA). In plain terms: it's the difference between a customer completing a booking and a customer giving up.
Do I need to install anything, or give you access to my site?
No, and no. There's no plugin, no code to paste, and we never need your hosting login, your CMS password or access to your booking system. We simply visit your public pages the same way a customer's browser would. If your website was built by someone else years ago and you've long since lost the login, this still works.
How is this different from a one-off accessibility audit?
A manual expert audit is more thorough than any automated tool, and it costs accordingly — commonly thousands. That's a sensible spend for a bank or a hospital group and a hard one to justify for a twelve-room guest house. We're the cheap first look: for €49 you find out whether you have a real problem, and which pages it's on. If what comes back is serious, you'll have a much better idea of whether a proper audit is worth paying for — and we'll say so rather than pretend an automated scan replaces one.
What exactly do I get for €49, and is it a subscription?
It's a one-off payment — there's no subscription, no renewal and nothing to cancel. You get the full report for the site you scanned: every machine-detectable issue we found across the pages we checked, ordered worst-first, each one explained in plain English with the page it appears on and the specific element at fault, so whoever looks after your website can act on it directly. The free check shows you your score and your top issues first, so you can decide whether the full report is worth €49 to you before you pay anything.
Can you guarantee my site is accessible once I've fixed what you found?
No, and be wary of anyone who says they can. An automated check finds machine-detectable problems — roughly 30–50% of the WCAG criteria. The rest need human judgement: whether your alt text actually describes the picture, whether your page makes sense read aloud in order, whether a customer can really complete a booking start to finish. No automated tool on the market can test those, ours included. What we give you is the measurable half, prioritised and explained — a clear-eyed starting point, not a certificate, and never a guarantee of legal compliance.
Do you keep checking my site every month?
Not today — and we'd rather tell you that than sell you a plan that doesn't exist yet. Ongoing monthly monitoring and email alerts are something we intend to build, but they are not built, so there is nothing to buy. What works right now is the free check and the €49 one-off report. You're welcome to run the free check again yourself any time you change your site. If you'd like to hear from us if and when monitoring exists, you can leave your email below — that's an interest list, not a purchase, and no card is involved.
